Message from Coach Al Fereshetian:

App State Cross Country is something special. Memories that will last a lifetime. Character built, courage challenged, intestinal fortitude achieved! That was the experience of the 1994 team. For us, a once in a lifetime opportunity, but that should not be the case for the program. Through the Firetower Project we can help turn our experience into a regular occurrence for future App State teams.

Those who have gone before will never forget the runs through the Meadows in route to the Fire Tower or those efforts through the "Maze" and "Paindance". How about "Trout Lake", "Bass Lake", "New River", Valle Crucis, Rich Mountain (Round Top), Grandfather Mountain and McRae Meadows. Not to mention "The Ridge", "The Knob" and "Cabbage Patch". There is no better training environment for cross country runners anywhere on the East Coast. With a great Coach in Mike Curcio and a history of toughness, grit and overachievement, all that is lacking for a distance running dynasty in Boone is the support to compete for the best athletes available. Let's make this thing happen and get ASU back to the "Big Dance".
